The Marketing Hack That Never Fails: Ask Your Customers

Hey Reader

Ever feel like you’re just winging it with your marketing?

You post a picture of eggs. You write a caption. You hope it lands.

Sometimes it works. Other times… crickets.

You wonder:

– Should I try video?
– Are people tired of hearing about my chicken?
– Do I need to explain my pricing better?

We’ve all been there. Staring at a blinking cursor, guessing what to say or how to sell more.

But here’s the part most folks forget:

You don’t have to guess.

Just ask.

Your Customers Will Tell You Everything

Most farms are sitting on a goldmine of feedback, they just never think to dig it up.

We assume we need a marketing guru or fancy funnel. But sometimes the best insights come from the person standing across from you at pickup, or reading your newsletter right now.

A few simple ways to ask:

  • Post a one-question poll on Instagram or Facebook
  • Send a short email asking what people want
  • Strike up a conversation at the farm stand or market

You don’t need a survey tool. You don’t need to “optimize.”

You just need to ask a real question… and listen.

Here’s one of my favorites:

“What almost stopped you from ordering the first time?”

That single question can uncover:

  • A confusing part of your checkout process
  • A price objection you can explain better
  • A worry (like freezer space) you can speak to in your emails

Let Me Go First

I design websites for farmers and homesteads. It’s what I do when I’m not chasing chickens, creating YouTube videos, or writing this newsletter.

But even though I’ve built a lot of them, I never want to assume what farmers actually need most.

So I’d love to hear from you:

Whether you’ve got a website, want one, or are somewhere in between — your answer will help me better serve folks just like you.

The Bottom Line

You don’t need a 10-step plan or the perfect strategy this week.

You just need to stay curious.

The more you understand what your customers want — and why they buy — the easier it becomes to market without feeling like you’re guessing or shouting into the void.

So this week, don’t try to do everything.

Just try to notice more.

Pay attention to what questions customers ask. What posts they like. What they say when they pick up their order.

Because the truth is, they’ve already given you the roadmap.

You just have to follow it.

Until next week ...

with my appreciation,

Jason
